Checkmk Push Notifications

Updated on October 28, 2026 Git Repository Checkmk Exchange

Send Checkmk host and service notifications
to your phone with Signalgrid.

Checkmk is a powerful monitoring system, but email is often a weak way to handle alerts. The Signalgrid Push plugin adds Signalgrid as a notification method in Checkmk, so host and service alerts can be delivered directly to your iPhone and Android devices.

If you want faster mobile alerting for outages, warnings, recoveries, and high-priority incidents, this integration gives you a clean way to send Checkmk notifications to Signalgrid without building your own webhook relay first.

  Minimum Version Required

The plugin requires Checkmk 2.3.0p34 or later.

What You Need

Install the Checkmk plugin

Download the latest signalgrid-push.mkp package from the Checkmk Exchange or the GitHub repository, copy it to your Checkmk server, and install it on your site:

Bash
su - <site> mkp add /path/to/signalgrid-push.mkp mkp enable signalgrid-push

After that, open the Checkmk setup and create a new notification rule using Signalgrid Push as the notification method.

Create the notification rule

  1. Open the notification rules area in Checkmk.
  2. Create a new rule and choose Signalgrid Push as the notification method.
  3. Enter your Signalgrid Client Key and Channel.
  4. Decide whether this rule should send standard notifications or critical notifications.
  5. Save the rule and activate your pending changes.
  6. Trigger a test alert or wait for the next real host or service event.

Required Fields

Field
Description
Client Key
Your Signalgrid client key used by Checkmk to authenticate notification delivery
Channel
The Signalgrid channel token that should receive the Checkmk notifications
Critical
Optional setting for alerts that should be delivered as critical Signalgrid notifications

Standard vs critical notifications

Use standard notifications for routine monitoring events, and use critical notifications only for the alerts that really need immediate attention.

Use case
Recommended Signalgrid behavior
Host DOWN / UP events
Usually standard, unless the affected system is important enough to justify critical delivery
Service WARNING events
Standard notifications
Service CRITICAL events
Often a good candidate for critical notifications
Recoveries
Standard notifications

Suggested rule split

A practical approach is to create separate Checkmk rules so serious incidents can be delivered with higher priority:

Example
WARNING -> Standard Signalgrid notification CRITICAL -> Critical Signalgrid notification DOWN -> Critical Signalgrid notification UP / OK -> Standard Signalgrid notification

This keeps routine monitoring noise under control while still letting the truly urgent incidents break through quickly.
